A full week of field trips
I'm a little behind on my posts because we had such a great week last week. We started off with a field trip to Peach Tree Rock with some friends and what started out to be a short jaunt to the rock and waterfall, turned into a lesson in following directions. Literally. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the rock which looks like an upside down pyramid, and about 45 minutes to get back. I guess we went wrong when we allowed the kids to lead the way and missed our turn back to the parking lot. This resulted in us making a complete circle right back to where we started from. Hurray! Cameron fell asleep on the way so I carried him the whole time (not to mention the little one that is permanently carried right now) and I was exhausted by the time we figured out our error and made it back to the cars for lunch. And that was only Monday! The rest of the week we discussed the Nile River and the farming patterns in Egypt along with some of their mythology. For science we have been working on a plant and animal lapbook and this week we covered adaptations. After the kids learned about the different adaptations of cactus and several animals they created their own aliens in natural habitats and wrote about how their bodies were made for particular climates, etc. We finished the week with a trip to myrtle beach for Jared's fall break from school and had a blast! It is so nice to be able to study when we want and take breaks when we want as well. Pictures will be coming soon.
